Making Swimming Pools Safe For Everyone is Easy

Few things go together as well as the warm months of summer and swimming pools, but safety should always come first with swimming fun.

For children aged one to fourteen, drowning is the second-most common cause of accidental death. Safe Kids USA, a child safety advocacy group, reports that 280 children under 5 years old drown every year in swimming pools across the country.

But there are steps you can take to make sure your pool is a safe place for swimmers of all ages. Here are a few rules:

o Nothing is more important to the safety of a swimming child than the eyes of attentive parents.
o Keep a landline phone near the pool in case there is an emergency - unlike with cell phones, 911 operators will be able to instantly know the location of your the call.
o Make sure hot tub and pool covers are completely removed before swimming.
o No running around the pool!

The Right Equipment

It is important that you outfit your pool with equipment that will protect swimmers from drain entrapment, when happens when a swimmer becomes trapped by a pool or spa's drain suction. The force from a drain can be overwhelming if a swimmer becomes stuck.

But a new law called the Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act addresses this: before opening in 2009, all public swimming pools are required to install approved safety drain covers, and all single-drain public pools are required to install anti-entrapment devices, such as a Safety Vacuum Release System (SVRS) or automatic pump-shut-off device.

The covers, if properly installed, make it extremely difficult for a swimmer to become entrapped. And if someone does become entrapped, an SVRS and other anti-entrapment systems are designed to immediately and automatically break the suction pressure, releasing the swimmer. Though exact costs vary by region and by pool, it is estimated that proper safety drain covers and a back-up layer of protection cost around $1,500.

3 Quick and Easy Tips for Picking Hot Stocks

Do you know what the top tips are for picking stocks are? No one can tell the future, but we have compiled three of our top tips to getting your investment portfolio to make some real returns in the future. Just because a stock is hot, it doesn't mean that it's a really good long term pick for your portfolio. The front page of the New York Times can tell you what is hot, lets take a look at some different tips for the investing world in general are.

1. Do your research. Just because something is trading at 5 times earnings, doesn't mean it's an incredible deal. In fact, just the opposite might be true. If its really supposed to be trading at something like 10 times earnings, why do you think it's so low? The old adage: "if it's too good to be true, it probably is" holds firm in this situation. Big Wall Street investment houses spend years trying to run various numbers and calculations on different scenarios to determine what the exact valuation of a stock might be. If a stock's valuation is too low, there is a good chance, that the stock might have some problems associated with it, like impending competition, government inquiries, or even litigation problems.

2. Go with what you know. If you are a computer software engineer, you might be best suited to analyze software businesses or maybe even internet stocks that use a lot of software in their business. This will help you get a better understanding of what you are buying and how the business deals with its costs.

3. Get financially literate. Do you know what a balance sheet is? An income statement? A statement of cash flows. These 3 are the groundings of what it takes to really understand a business' current and future performance. Learn them and get to know how and what they are and how they are used to base an investment.

These are really just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to learning about investments and their potential. Visit our site today to get more tips, resources, and a blog about different investment tips.

Instant Hot Water - Cheap and Easy

Instant hot water has a lot to be said for it. Not having to stand around waiting is one. Saving tons of water is another. Instant hot water can save you time water and energy, and along with those savings are other less tangible benefits. Reduced green house gasses are released into the atmosphere when you use less water since it requires energy to pump and process water before it gets to your home, and then again as sewage. If you have a septic system it can extend the life of your system. If you are on a well, your pump won't have to run as much.

There are a variety of systems on the market today that are designed to get you faster hot water. There are different views on just what "instant hot water" is. Some people say that you have to be able to get hot water within a second or two after turning on a tap. With most of these systems there is definitely a waiting period, which usually occurs before you turn on the tap, so not all people view all of these systems as producing "instant hot water".

For our purposes we shall define "instant hot water" as that which arrives within a few seconds of turning on the tap even if you had to wait before turning on the tap.

One way to have instant hot water is to circulate the water in a big loop from the outlet of the water heater, past each fixture, and on back to the inlet of the water heater. In my opinion this is the only way to really have "instant" heated water. You walk up to the tap and turn it on, and within a second or two it's there.

At first this sounds like a great idea, but after closer scrutiny it becomes obvious that this system is not so great after all. It is an energy hog! What you end up with is a giant heat radiating system that keeps the water heater working harder and more often to keep this big piping radiator hot. Even if you insulate the heck out of the pipes, the surface area to volume ratio insures that you will consume a huge amount of energy. Energy to heat water is much more expensive than the water that is being heated.

These continuously circulating systems also suffer from breakdowns due to the fact that heated water tends to form sediment even while being circulated. This sediment gets deposited on the surfaces of the pump parts and pipes forming clogging deposits which cause breakdowns.

Continuous circulating systems won't work with tankless water heaters. This is unfortunate, since tankless water heaters take longer to get the heated water than normal plumbing systems. More wasted water is the result.

Grundfos and Taco are two manufacturers of continuous circulating pumps and systems.

An alternative to the continuous circulating systems are the temperature controlled circulating systems that use the cold water piping as the return line back to the water heater. Like the previously discussed system, the hot water gets circulated in a big loop from the water heater, past the fixtures, and back to the water heater. The pump is usually located at the fixture furthest from the water heater, and the inlet connects to the hot pipe and the outlet connects to the cold water pipe With some systems the pump can be located at the heater, and just a valve at the fixture.

Since you obviously don't want your cold water piping full of heated water, the pump has a temperature sensing circuit, and the circuit shuts the pump off when the water gets up to about 95 degrees at the pump. The pump turns back on when the water temperature cools down to about 85 degrees. This means that when you turn on the tap you don't have to wait as long for the hot water to reach you since the pipes aren't as cold and won't suck the heat out as much as cold pipes would and so you get hot water more quickly. It certainly isn't instant though.

These "luke warm" systems as I call them also waste a whole lot of energy since they keep the pipes full of partially heated water. They don't use as much energy as the standard circulating systems, but they still use much more energy than a normal plumbing system uses.

Again, as with the previous types of systems the luke warm systems will not work with a tankless water heater. They pump water much too slowly to activate the tankless water heater's flow switch, and so they would just circulate cold water around and around.

Manufacturer's of the luke warm systems include RedyTemp, Laing, Grundfos and Watts.

The good news is there is a type of system that gets you fast hot water, doesn't run water down the drain, doesn't use more energy, and even works with tankless water heaters. In addition it is inexpensive and easy to install. The type of system I am talking about is a "demand system". When you "demand" heated water, by pressing a button, the pump comes on and pumps the heated water to your fixture rapidly. As with the luke warm systems, the pump is located at the furthest fixture from the heater, and connects to the hot and cold lines.

Instead of being temperature controlled though, the pump only turns on when you turn it on. It has a temperature sensor built in, and when hot water reaches the fixture the pumps shuts off. At that point you have instant hot water when you turn on the tap. Since the heated water was not circulated, you did not use any more heat energy than if you had a normal plumbing system. Since the pump only runs for a few seconds each time, it only uses a dollar or two per year in electricity costs. If you have a system with a powerful pump like the Chilipepper CP6000 pump, you can get your water much faster than normal. The CP6000 pumps up to 3 gallons per minute, and many fixtures limit flow rates to less than one gallon per minute. So you can get your heated water up to three times as fast. And what you get is hot water, not luke warm water.

The demand type systems do not seem to have any drawbacks. They get you your hot water faster, saving you time. They don't use more energy than a standard system. They are inexpensive, or at least some of them are. And some of them work with tankless water heaters as well. As long as the pump is strong enough to turn on the heater, it will work.

The Chilipepper pump has the strongest pump on the market and will turn on any tankless water heater. Metlund makes several models, and not all will work with a tankless water heater so if you have a tankless water heater check with the manufacturer to make sure it will work with your model of heater.

Demand systems are typically inexpensive, the least expensive being the Chilipepper at about $180.00, and Metlund with several models under $300.00. Taco also manufactures a demand system very similar to the Metlund D'mand system. Often you can install them without even turning off the hot water to the house, just turn off the angle stops under the sink where you are installing it. You will need a 110 volt outlet to plug the pump into.

If you decide you are interested in a demand type system check with you local water company, as several water companies around the country offer their customers rebates of up to $200.00 for the installation of such a system to conserve water. So be green, help out the environment, and stop waiting for hot water.

The Easy Way to Get Hot Women Tonight!

There is an easy way to get hot women. And I'm sure you want to know what it is. If you're sick and tired of not getting any action with women then you need to pay attention. You need to understand what makes women tick. You need to understand why women are attracted to men.

I have studied women for a long time so that I can give you this information. Why do I want you to have this info? Because I don't want you to have to go through what I went through. I want you to be able to cut to the chase and have better luck with picking up women.

I want to give you the secret about what women want. I was surprised by the secret, and I'm sure you will be too. But the good news is you can use this to your advantage. This secret will make you much more attractive to women.

The absolute number one thing that women want from a man is confidence. That may seem silly, but after studying women for so long that was what I found out. You can be overweight, you can be balding, you can drive a horrible car... none of that matters to a woman. They can look past all of that. I know society has taught you differently, but that isn't the case.

We have all seen average looking guys (and less than average looking guys) with hot women. How do you think they got these women? Confidence. Even if they didn't have the physical looks, they were the alpha male. And that is what you need to be.

Women want the alpha male. It is built into their genetics. It is part of evolution, and they can't fight it. This is how you can get hot women. You need to have the confidence that an alpha male has. You need to be the leader.

Before you invest any more money on expensive dates hoping upon hope that you'll get somewhere with the woman across the table, take the time to invest in yourself. Take the time to figure out what it is that will give you the confidence that you need to be successful with women. Are you ready to be the alpha male?

You can become the Alpha Male that women want.

Check out the Alpha Male System now and change your life right now!

Scrapbooking Made Easy

Creating a scrapbook may seem overwhelming to some, however this doesn't have to be the case. Scrapbooking can actually be a fun and rewarding activity. Scrapbooks, like people, come in all shapes and sizes. There is not a right or wrong way to make a scrapbook, so you have the freedom to make one how you wish.

Scrapbooking is much easier today, then say ten years ago. There are a multitude of resources to be used when creating a scrapbook. To begin with, the first thing to do is figure out what kind of scrapbook you would like to make, or what is the theme? You can choose to make a scrapbook for your mom, containing pictures of your children. A scrapbook containing pictures of you and your friends over the past year is another idea. You can make a scrapbook of holiday get-togethers, or your baby's first year scrapbook, or a family tree scrapbook containing old photos of past generations. Picking a theme is the first step, and if you don't have a certain theme that's okay too. You may choose just to have a variety of different pictures you like in one scrapbook. Like I said, there is no right or wrong way to make a scrapbook.

The second thing you will want to do in creating a scrapbook is choosing the size of scrapbook you would like to make. For example, if making a scrapbook for your mom containing pictures of your kids, you can choose to do a large book, or even a smaller book with only fifteen or twenty photos that she can keep in her purse or tote bag. If this will be a scrapbook that is for you then you can decide if you would like a larger book that will fit in a bookcase, or something smaller that will be placed on your nightstand. The possibilities are endless.

You will then choose the pictures and photos you want to include in your scrapbook. Choosing clear photos is very important, you don't want to choose a picture that is too dark or blurry. Your pictures will be showcased in your scrapbook so you will want to choose the best ones. Even if a picture is off center you can always crop it so that the person or object in your photo is centered.

Once you decide on the theme of your scrapbook, the size of the book, and the pictures you want to include in your scrapbook then you will want to take a trip to your local craft store and pick up a few items that you will need to create your scrapbook. Items you may want to buy are: colored cardstock, stickers, die-cuts, decorative scissors, glue sticks, and double sided tape. There are numerous other supplies that are available, and you don't have to buy everything at once. Perhaps only buy enough items to do a few pages at a time.

You can make your scrapbook as simple or elaborate using the available resources at your craft store. All-in-one scrapbooking packages are even available. These include most everything you need for a themed scrapbook (plain and decorative paper, stickers, die-cuts, labels, etc.). The main idea is to just create a book that will showcase your pictures in a special way. One resource you may want to take advantage of are scrapbooking magazines and books. These have numerous examples of scrapbook pages you can copy or get ideas from.

The point is that creating a scrapbook should be fun for you, not a job you feel obligated to do. A scrapbook doesn't have to be created and finished in a short amount of time, don't feel like you have to finish a whole scrapbook in a week or two. Some scrapbooks, especially larger ones, may take months to finish. Once finished you'll have a keepsake for life, and knowing that you made it yourself will make it that much more special.

Summer Grilling Made Easy

Summer is the season our thoughts go to cooking outdoors - grilling. We are all familiar with cooking meat on the grill - juicy steaks, hamburgers and tangy ribs. But how about some lighter fare?

Here are three lighter recipes for summer grilling - a salmon with citrus flavored sauce, grilled vegetables and a light grilled halibut (or any solid white fish) with a herb and lemon flavored crust. So any time you are in the mood for something a bit different and a little on the lighter side, try these out.

Grilled Citrus Salmon

1/4 cup honey garlic barbecue sauce
2 tablespoons lemon juice
2 teaspoons chopped chives
2 teaspoons melted butter
2 teaspoons honey
1 teaspoon finely grated lemon zest
1/2 teaspoon salt
pepper to taste
hot pepper flakes (optional)
2 pounds salmon fillet, one large fillet or individual portions (works best with one large fillet)

Preheat the grill to medium high and grease well. Pierce a piece of nonstick foil several times and place on a baking sheet. Stir the barbecue sauce with the other ingredients (except the salmon). Put the salmon on the foil, skin side down.

Brush half the sauce mixture over the salmon. Slide the foil on to the grate. Cook, covered, without turning for 15 to 17 minutes or until salmon is cooked but still slightly cook in the center. Brush with the remaining sauce mixture during the last 5 minutes of cooking.

To serve, slice salmon into portions and use a thick metal spatula to remove from the portions from the foil. Leave the skin behind. Garnish with added chives if desired.

Makes 6 servings.

Cedar Plank Version:
Soak an untreated cedar plank in clean water for 2 hours. Place the plank on the grill and preheat for 5 or 10 minutes or until wood begins smoking. Place the salmon on the cedar and proceed as directed above. Use skinless salmon for best results.

Grilled Vegetable Platter

1/2 cup garlic and herb flavor barbecue sauce (or your favorite marinade)
3 tablespoons melted unsalted butter or olive oil
1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (or 1 teaspoon of dry)
1 tablespoon fresh thyme, chopped (or 1 teaspoon of dry)
3/4 pound each of small red and white potatoes
4 cobs corn, cut in half or thirds if larger
1 pound assorted summer squash such as green or yellow zucchini or patty pan squash

Whisk the marinade or barbecue sauce with the butter, parsley and thyme until well combined. Reserve.

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Working in batches, blanch the potatoes for about 10 minutes. Blanch the corn for 2 minutes. As the vegetables are finished, use a slotted spoon to transfer them to a large bowl of water to chill. Drain well and pat dry. Toss all the vegetables with the marinade mixture until evenly coated.

Preheat the grill to medium high. Grill the potatoes corn and squash, turning as needed and basting with any remaining marinade. As vegetables become tender, remove from the grill to a warm platter or bowl. Tent the cooked vegetable platter with foil until all vegetables are cooked.

Makes 6 servings.

Grilled Halibut with Lemon-Herb Crust

3/4 cup fresh bread crumbs
2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
1 tablespoon finely grated lemon zest
salt and pepper to taste
1 tablespoon butter or margarine
2 tablespoons mayonnaise
1 tablespoon fresh tarragon, chopped
1 pound halibut fillets, about 1/2" thick, skin left on
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

In a small bowl, combine bread crumbs, Parmesan cheese, lemon zest, salt and pepper. Add butter and toss with a fork to form a crumbly mixture. In another bowl, combine mayonnaise and tarragon.

Arrange the fish, skin side down, on a platter. Spread each fillet with the mayonnaise mixture. Press crumbs mixture onto each fillet.

Preheat barbecue on high for 10 minutes. Reduce the heat to medium-high. Arrange fillets on barbecue skin side down. Lower lid and cook until fish flakes easily with a fork and topping is browned, about 10-12 minutes. Drizzle lemon juice over each fillet and serve immediately.

Makes 4 servings.

Quick And Easy Ways To Stay On Top Of Your Hot Tub Maintenance

To relax and unwind in your own hot tub by yourself or with friends and family is one of the greatest ways to spend some time at the end of the day. However, to keep your tub clean, safe and functioning properly for many years you will need to keep on top on the regular hot tub maintenance that is required.

Daily Things You Have To Do

On a daily basis there are a few things that need to be checked and looked after. Checking that the pH and chlorine (or bromine) levels are in the safe range is important. This only takes a minute or two with a small test kit. If the pH and chlorine levels are out of range then it is just a simple matter of adding a bit more of pH raiser or chlorine to bring them into range depending on what is needed. Keeping these two levels in the safe range will keep the water safe to be used by you and your guests.

Also, each day, wipe the tub at the waterline to keep the tub from getting a ring around it. Clean any dirt off of the tub and cover. And, cleaning around the area that you get in and out of the hot tub will keep dirt from being tracked into it.

Weekly Tasks

Every week, there are a few tasks that need to be done for your hot tub maintenance. Depending on the area that you live and the type of water you have will make a difference in what you need to do. In areas with soft water, you will probably have to add only a bit of non-chlorine hot tub shock or some other type of clearing chemical. This is for killing organic contaminants and clearing the water to look crystal clear. In other areas you may need to add a stain and scale treatment to prevent and eliminate staining and scaling from forming and to help clarify cloudy water.

Topping up your tub with more water should be done once a week, too. This will refill what has evaporated and what has been spilled from the hot tub.

Monthly And Yearly Tasks

About every two to three weeks you will need to clean your filter. At least once a month take off the cover to the pump unit and check to see if everything looks fine and dry. The water from the tub should be drained and refilled every three or four months, depending on usage. Clean your hot tub cover with a proper vinyl cleaner once a month.

By doing each of these hot tub maintenance tasks, you will keep the water safe to use and extend the life of your tub for many years of enjoyment.

Hot Pockets - Making Your Own at Home is Easy

I do not know too many people that do not like a good hot pocket sandwich, but if your family is as frugal as ours, you probably do not by them very often because of the expense. What if you could make your Hot Pockets at home for a fraction of the price and use leftovers to fill them, making them a great way to stretch your food dollars even more?

Hot pockets are very simple to make, and can be made in a variety of flavors used for any meal of the day, a dessert or a mid day snack. The best thing about hot pockets is that you can let your imagination run away with you when it comes to fillings, and you should never need to run to the store to fill these as you will almost always have something good to put in them lying around your kitchen.

Hot Pocket Dough

1 tablespoon yeast

1 tablespoon sugar

1 cup warm water

2 tablespoons oil

1 teaspoon salt

2 ¾ - 3 ¼ cup flour

Dissolve yeast in warm water. Add sugar. Let it set for a few minutes until foamy (if you're using fast-rise yeast, you can just add the yeast with the flour and go on). Then stir in the oil, salt and flour. Knead 5 minutes. Let sit 5 minutes. Divide dough into 6 pieces. Roll/pat each piece into a circle ( maybe about 6" across or so)

Top half with filling of choice, keeping back from edges from edges so it will seal well. Fold the other ½ of the circle over the filling and pinch sides together or seal with a fork. Poke a couple steam vents and bake for 20 minutes at 375 degrees

The Fillings

This is where it gets really fun, you can choose one of my fillings below or you can make your own. Keep in mind when you make your own that you will need some sort of liquid or semi-liquid to keep your filling from drying out. This can be in the form of a processed cheese, marinara sauce, fettuccini sauce or a bit of oil or other type of fat.

Our favorite fillings are-

Pizza sauce with veggies, pepperoni, ham and mozzarella cheese

Condensed cream soups with veggies and meat

Ham and cheese

Sloppy Joe Mix

Taco meat, olives, and onions with cheese over top

You can make a breakfast filling with scrambled eggs, cheese and ham or you can put pie fillings in these and top them with sugar and cinnamon for a unique and frugal dessert.

Easy Female Orgasms - How Can I Give My Girlfriend an Orgasm She Won't Forget? (This is Hot!)

In this article we are going to talk about female orgasms! Now, everyone knows that men are able to orgasm pretty easily during sex - so why do so many women have such trouble? If you read the surveys and the studies, the statistics do not look promising! Over half of women admit to regularly faking climax just to get sex over with, many privately acknowledge preferring shopping over sex with their man, and less than 1 in 10 women say they orgasm "every time" they have sex with their partner. Ouch is right!

But did you know that the very same group of women said when they engage in self gratification, they are able to achieve a fantastic finish just about 100% of the time? Pretty amazing, right? It is...and the simple truth is that many men are simply not getting it done between the sheets and leaving many of us high, dry and hungry for more!

So how can you give your girl an unforgettable orgasm each and every time?

Lots of ways. Start to experiment. What does she really like? Where does she love to be touched? Every woman is a little bit different, but we all have things in common that we love! Did you know that the clitoris is the most sensitive spot on the human body, and the e only place whose SOLE purpose it is to create pleasure? It's true...and if you aren't focusing here on your girl, it's time you start! What about other things? Adventure is a huge aphrodisiac for many women - so try new things! How about a little bit of spicy conversation - or dirty dialog? Many women admit this is a huge turn on and a great way of intensifying her orgasm! How about your anatomy? Did you know that over 90% of women privately admit that they'd prefer their man was larger? It's true...and while she won't tell you, she will tell us..:-) Exercise is a great way of giving yourself great gains, and her a series of unforgettable orgasms to boot!

And One Last thing...Remember:

Women admit that they would prefer a man who COMMUNICATES passionately during sex (which means she wants a little lusty dialogue..:-), they want you to learn the landscape a bit better ( understand her body) and they PREFER a man who has a powerful anatomy (a thicker penis is preferable). You can improve all three of these with JUST a little effort..and in my experience, the REWARDS they offer are EACH worth their weight in earth shaking orgasmic gold..:-)

So Click Here to become a more Powerful lover and give her an ORGASM so STRONG ....she'll scream your name in her sleep!

4 skinless, boneless chicken breasts
1/3 cup flour
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp fresh ground black pepper
3 tbsps butter
1/4 tsp minced garlic
1 cup sliced green onions
8-oz fresh mushrooms, sliced*
3/4 cup chicken broth
1 can (10-oz) cream of mushroom soup

Pound each chicken breast to 1/4-inch thickness. Mix flour, salt, and pepper together in a shallow bowl. Coat chicken well with the flour mixture and set in refrigerator while preparing the onions and mushrooms.

Heat the butter over medium-high heat in a large skillet. Add the garlic, onions, and mushrooms and saute for about 3 minutes. Remove vegetables with a slotted spoon. Get chicken from the refrigerator and add to the skillet. Cook the chicken for about 5 minutes each side. Add broth and soup to the skillet. Cook, stirring often, for about 5 minutes. Return the mushroom mixture to the skillet and reduce heat to low. Simmer, stirring occasionally, for 5 minutes. Serve immediately while hot.

*You may substitute 1 cup canned mushrooms that have been drained.

Serve this chicken dish with some hot buttered noodles or rice.

Enjoy!
